I thank God for blessing me with this wonderful gift of being able to serve women and their families during the miracle of birth and the life change of parenthood. And also for the amazing, wonderful gift of my own family....I truly am blessed beyond measure!
Hello, my name is Tanya Linares.
I live in Arkansas City, Kansas with my husband, and our 9 children.
I have a 24 year history of personal birth experience and assisting pregnant women.
I supported my best friend through the labor and birth of her daughter nearly 13 years ago, and it magnified my desire to learn all I can about pregnancy and childbirth. I truly love supporting a laboring mother (and her partner), it is my passion, my hearts desire.
Recently, I was blessed to be invited to another birth, and although I wasn't able to be there, and never met him in his short 2 weeks here on earth, It was him who finally somehow gave me the push I needed to start my certification process.
I am currently taking classes for formal birth education through Birth Arts International, one of the most comprehensive and intensive doula education program available.
I am so very excited to be starting this journey and I can't wait to help you make your birth experience the very best it can be.
WHAT IS A DOULA?
A doula is a trained and experienced childbirth professional.
The doula's purpose is to help the laboring women to have a safe, memorable, and empowering birthing experience.
A doula supports the mother-to-be in a non-medical role and helps her to achieve the birth she hopes for. A midwife or doctor will provide her medical care. A doula works for the woman and her partner and has their best interests at heart.
A doula may provide some or all of the following services:
Continuous emotional, physical, and informational support
Discuss birth planning and preferences
Birth education and preparation
Discuss previous births
Offer several different comfort measures
Teach optimal fetal positioning
Suggest positions and changes to help ease pain and facilitate more effective labor
Provide reassurance and encouragement for laboring woman and her partner
Bring aromatherapy, music, candles, etc
And so much more!
There are two types of doulas.
Labor/Birth doulas and Postpartum/Postnatal doulas. The role of the postpartum doula is to nurture the mother AFTER childbirth. This may include breastfeeding support, light home duties, emotional and physical support, referrals, etc.
I provide both labor and postpartum services.
